Original Don
Ran across a very random music video via reddit and for some reason, I couldn't stop watching it. It felt oddly very true to life but artistically narrative at the same time. How could this be?
This was directed by Kyle Frere who works in the photo and video industry in Chicago.
The reason why this gem felt so disturbingly home-video-ish is because it is based off an actual choreographed routine by a few lesser known individuals.
Kyle Frere took this youtube gem, recreated the look and added a narrative element to it. It is highly creative and I have never seen something like this before. It's very neat and is another reason why sometimes working from personal memories and experiences can add a depth to one's work that otherwise could never be achieved through just imagination alone.
